There is so much more to tell...

John 21:25 Written from one of His best friend's perspective John shares what he thinks he needs to share to prove Jesus is the Messiah yet he leaves us saying there is so much more to share.  He says, if it was written down the whole world could not contain the books!  That's impressive for 33 years of life! Lord Jesus, please help us to live that full of life; honouring and serving You. In Your mighty name.  Amen

The other disciple

John 21:20-24   It is human nature to be jealous so it's not surprising that Peter and John we're competing to be Jesus "best friend".  Jesus gave the solution to the problem though; concentrate on your only relationship with me! Lord Jesus, help us not to become jealous of others.  Help us to concentrate on our own relationships; especially our relationship with You.  In Your mighty name.  Amen.

Old age

John 21:18-19 Are we willing to follow even as we lose our independence?  This is Christ's call "follow me". Lord Jesus, we pray for those who are loosing their independence.  Please help them to grow their faith during this time.  In Your mighty name.  Amen

Do you love Me? Jesus

John 21:15-17 Peter was willing to fight for Jesus but Jesus said no.  He said "if you live by the sword you die by the sword".  So Jesus "lost the battle" and went to the cross...but now He's conquered death and reinstating Peter.  He asks the words "do you love me more than these"?  Do you Agape (love me like God) me? Do you Phileo (love me like a friend) me? It raises the question do we compare ourselves to others?  Do we think we love God more than others?  Are we willing to show our love by acts of service?  Jesus challenged Peter to show his love; not by the sword but by feeding his fellow disciples.

The breakfast connection

The sea of Galilee; maybe where they had breakfast   John 21:4-14 Jesus, with compassion, cooked breakfast for His disciples.  He also allowed them to see another miracle...when they did what He told them to do they were abundantly blessed! Lord Jesus, help us to listen to Your still small voice!  Help us to have the courage and faith to obey it and show us who You are as we obey You.  In Your mighty name.  Amen

Connecting and purpose

John 21:1-3   The disciples had witnessed the most amazing thing on earth; power over death, yet they walked away from it and went back to the familiar; fishing.   The problem is their experience was unfulfilling.  They caught nothing! Lord Jesus, help us to be filled with Your Holy Spirit so we can live a purposeful life with You.  Help us not to just work; help us to work for You.  In Your mighty name, Amen.

The purpose of John's Gospel

John 20:30-31 Not all Jesus' miracles are documented but John documented what he did "  that you may believe  that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God,  and that by believing you may have life in his name." He fulfilled prophecies, He performed miracles, He had power over death; Yes, this Jesus is the Messiah, our long awaited Saviour. Lord Jesus, help us to help others believe.  I pray that Your Holy Spirit, even now, would be drawing folks to Alpha and that You'd be preparing the leaders to listen to Your Holy Spirit as You guide and direct.  In Your mighty name.  Amen
